The first step is to take each child's measurements using our simple Measuring Instructions. With measures in hand, the measurement charts above are used as a guide to help choose the closest fitting size for your child.

If your child's measurements are slightly in-between sizes, we recommend that the larger size be ordered. Find your child's height range on the chart, then compare chest, waist and for A-line styles, hip measures. It is best to start with the height so that you'll be sure to have enough length. As long as your child's width measures are within a 1/2" (bigger or smaller) of the width measures for the size closest to your child's height, you will be able to easily alter the dress.

Bodice/Skirt Seam Adjustments:
For children in-between 2 sizes, we can make a Bodice Seam Adjustment or a Bodice/Skirt length adjustment to most of our dresses for a nominal fee of $15.00 per dress. This is great for girls that are long and lean, or a child whose waist is a little large in proportion to her chest and height. This option can save time and money on alterations by having the dress made closer to a child's size.

An example of where an adjustment would be beneficial is: a child measures a size 6 in height but measures a size 4 around. Depending on her frame and age, we would determine whether to cut down the larger size or lengthen the smaller size.

In the case where the waist is slightly fuller on a child with otherwise standard measurements, rather than going to a larger size and creating a dress that will be to big everywhere else, we can make just the waist larger.

Custom Sizing:
If your child's measures are not represented on our charts, custom sizing of any of our styles to your child's personal measurements is available. Who would need a custom sized dress? A child that is more than 2" larger/taller than a size 16; an early teen with a developed bust(B cup or fuller); Or a child whose width measures are more than 3" off either way for their height range.
